95.47% voter turnout in Dibrugarh University Students’ elections

The Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students’ Union(PGSU) election started at 8 am on Thursday with a huge voter turnout.

Out of 4615 students, 4406 students have cast their votes in the DUPGSU election on Thursday.

According to Dibrugarh University authorities, 95.47 per cent of voter turnout was witnessed during the DUPGSU elections.

From the morning, a long queue has been seen in the Dibrugarh University, where the students have come to vote for their preferred candidates.

After two years, Dibrugarh University authority has conducted the PGSU election.

Altogether, 35 candidates were contesting the DUPGSU election this year.

“After two years PGSU elections were held in Dibrugarh University. We are happy to cast our vote after a span of two years,” said a Dibrugarh University student.

Earlier, the Dibrugarh University authority has cancelled the PGSU elections citing “disagreement among students relating to filing of nomination papers for conduct of elections”.
