Assam Assembly polls: Exit polls indicate BJP-led NDA govt to retain power in Assam

Before the counting of the Assam Assembly election votes, the exit polls done by several organisations show BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is likely to retain power in Assam for the second time.

From NDTV to Republic’s exit poll, predicted BJP is likely to retain power in Assam.

The BJP is expected to win 72 of 126 seats. The Congress is likely to win 53 seats, says the NDTV exit poll.

The India Today-Axis My India exit poll has predicted win in 75-85 seats for the NDA. The Congress’s grand alliance is likely to win 40-50 seats, it says.

The Manorama News-VMR exit poll has also predicted the same numbers of seats for the ruling and opposition alliances.

On the other hand, the P-MARQ exit poll says the grand alliance might win 56-64 seats. The BJP is likely to get 62-70 seats.

The Republic TV-CNX exit poll also predicts an easy win for the BJP. According to them, the BJP and its allies are winning 74-84 seats, whereas the Congress-led alliance will win 40-50 seats.

The majority mark in Assam is 64.

The ABP News-C Voter poll predicts a neck-and-neck contest. It says the NDA win will 58-71 seats; the Congress-led alliance is likely to win 53-66 seats.

News 24-Today’s Chanakya exit poll says the BJP-led alliance is likely to win 70 seats. The grand-alliance might win 56 seats.

Assam voted in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6. According to the Election Commission, the polling turnouts were 79.93%, 80.96% and 82.33% respectively.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance had won 86 seats. The alliance is taking on the grand alliance of eight parties led by Congress.

The Assam poll results will be declared on May 2.
