Assam CM Pays Visit To Witch-Hunt Crusader Birubala Rabha, Hands Over Rs 1 Lakh Cheque To The Padma Shri Awardee

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the residence of noted activist and witch-hunting crusader Padma Shri Dr. Birubala Rabha at Thakurbila village on the Assam-Meghalaya border in Goalpara district and took stock of her health condition on Saturday.

The Chief Minister interacted with the renowned activist who hasn’t been well for a while and handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh from CM’s Relief Fund as an aid for her treatment.

He also wished her a speedy recovery so that she resumes her tirade against the menace of superstition with greater zeal and fortitude.

Noteworthy that Padma Shri Dr. Birubala Rabha has been fighting a relentless battle against superstition and social evils like witch-hunting. Through ‘Mission Birubala’, she has been working to generate awareness against witch-hunting and in the course has saved many lives.

Power Minister Bimal Bora accompanied the Chief Minister on the visit. CEM of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Tankeswar Rabha, Goalpara (East) MLA Abul Kalam Rashid Alam and Goalpara (West) MLA Abdur Rashid Mandal were also present during the Chief Minister’s visit.
