Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday reviewed flood preparedness and COVID-19 situation of Lakhimpur district in Upper Assam in a meeting held at DC office conference hall in the district headquarters Lakhimpur town.
After reviewing the flood situation, the Chief Minister directed the district administration to take prompt action for relief and rescue of affected people.
He also asked Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan to take steps for releasing financial assistance to affected people and repair institutional buildings damaged by flood as per the new financial power delegated to the DCs.
Chief Minister Dr. Sarma while taking stock of the flood caused by the release of water from Ronganadi dam, asked NEEPCO officials to immediately activate the manual system necessary for early warning of flood.
The Chief Minister asked Water Resources Department to take steps for restoration and strengthening of vulnerable erosion points in an expeditious manner.
He also directed Agriculture Department to identify high land areas to be developed as community nursery for sowing paddy seeds as a measure to mitigate the impact of natural calamity.
To bail the state out of the pangs of COVID 19 pandemic and boost the State’s fight against COVID-19, the Chief Minister directed the Health Department to intensify vaccination to cover the targeted population.
