Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday has taken the first shot of Covid-19 vaccine at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
After taking the vaccine, CM Sonowal urged everyone eligible to get vaccinated and continue following safety measures to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.
CM Sonowal tweeted, “Took my first shot of #COVID19 vaccine at GMCH. Vaccines are safe and will help us defeat this pandemic. I urge all eligible persons of the state to get vaccinated and continue following safety precautions,”.
The health department said there is no cause of alarm as the total positivity rate in the state is 0.92%.
The state’s vaccination target for the next three months is 70 lakh, with an 80,000 daily aim.
Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu urged the educational institutions to follow COVID protocols or else strict action will be taken against the institutions.
