Two officials of a police station in Western Assam’s Dhubri district were caught red handed taking bribe by the Chief Minister’s Vigilance and Anti-corruption Cell on Thursday.
The official duo — offier in charge of Gauripur police station Satyajit Borthakur and his colleague sub-inspector Abhi Kalam Azad — were alleged of demanding money in order to “manage” FIRs against people.
The Chief Minister’s Vigilance and Anti-corruption Cell took action after several complaints were filled against the duo.
“They had told a person that they will manage an FIR against him in exchange of Rs 1 lakh and keep him out of their investigation,” Police said.
A team of the police from Guwahati les by Anand Misra, raided the police station while they were taking money from the person and caught them red-handed with the money.
