Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra established on the teachings of Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankaradeva has been working unrelentingly to enrich the cultural, social, intellectual and spiritual life of the people of the state belonging to Barak valley, Brahmaputra valley, the hills and the plains.
Speaking at the 23rd foundation day programme of Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra at Panjabari here today, Chief Minister Sonowal said that not only in creating strong bond, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra has its role in churning personalities with varied qualities from different hues. It may be noted that with the celebration of this foundation day, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra has bee reopened for the visitors.
He also set an agenda for the Kalakshetra and said that it (Kalakshetra) has to play a role in spreading the teachings and philosophy of the Gurujona outside the state transcending all boundaries.
Expressing his gratitude to the former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta as well as other personalities of the state who were instrumental in establishing Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Sonowal said that Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Society has to play a role in motivating the younger generation in imbibing the pristine cultural facets of the state. He also believes that Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra society must embrace the role in setting up its branches in different parts of the country.
Chief Minister Sonowal speaking on the occasion also attributed the intellectual, spiritual and cultural enrichment and supremacy of the state to the contribution of Srimanta Sankaradeva and said that for spreading the philosophy of Gurujona every individual should take a responsibility.
Synchronising with the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal also inaugurated fourteen number of high-mast lights installed by Guwahati Development Department. He also released an ‘information booklet’, a website, facebook page and twitter account of Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Society on the occasion.
The welcome speech of the programme was delivered by Vice Chairman of Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Society and MLA Angoorlata Deka. Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister for Guwahati Development Department Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Minister of State (i/c) for Cultural Affairs Naba Kumar Doley, MP Queen Oja were present and also spoke on the occasion.
MLAs Atul Bora, Suman Haripriya, Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, Commissioner and Secretary Cultural Affairs Preetom Saikia and Secretary Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Society Sudarshan Thakur and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
