Cong stage protest against flash flood & summoning of Rahul Gandhi by ED

Congress workers staged protest across Northeast India against the summoning and questioning of their leader Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday.

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) also held a demonstration against the flash flood problem in Guwahati.

Congress party workers will protest outside Raj Bhawan on Thursday. In Guwahati, Police detained the Assam Congress President Bhupen Kumar Borah and other leaders and workers when they were protesting against the summons issued by the ED to Gandhi. There was a scuffle between the Congress workers and police and a police officer was injured.

Assam’s Special Director General of Police, Law, and Order, G.P. Singh tweeted, “Another day at work for
@assampolice ACP Dispur injured while handling L&O situation at Guwahati. Adequate treatment has been given. Lawful action is being initiated”.

Borah said that police did not allow them to visit flood affected areas of the Guwahati and arrested them from Rajiv Bhawan. Congress leaders Rockybul Hussain, MLA Nurul Hooda, and MP Abdul Khaleque were detained by the police in front of the Rajiv Bhawan, the Assam state Congress headquarters.

The Congress protestors were supposed to go to the ED office in Chandmari but police stopped them.

Meanwhile several areas of Guwahati have been inundated by flood waters since Monday. At least four people were killed in a landslide in Guwahati on Tuesday, Kamrup Metro district administration has asked the people not to venture outside the home unless necessary.

Similarly, in Agartala Congress leader demonstrated in front of the ED office on the outskirt of the city.
