COVID-19 outbreak: 44 Frontline warriors of Assam Police tested positive

At least 44 Assam Police personnel’s who had been fighting the COVID-19 battle in the frontlines, tested positive for the virus as on Sunday while 1127 others are kept in quarantine.

“Continuing to serve the people of Assam during COVID pandemic… They are all in high spirits.”, Gyanendra Pratap Singh, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the state, Law and Order, tweeted.

The other day, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had confirmed about widespread community transmission of the virus in the state capital Guwahati of which, these 44 personnel’s were suspected of being a prey too, said a source in the health department.

The state has 7492 COVID-19 cases in total with 2390 active ones, at the time of filing this report. 5088 have recovered with 11 deaths so far.
