Daily wage worker arrested for alleged murder of doctor

The person was identified as Diganta Tanti. He was arrested from Chinnamara area of Jorhat on Sunday. Diganta worked as daily wage painter.

According to police,  26-year old homeopathic doctor named Rahul Basumatary was found murdered in his rented house in Bylane 4 of Chandan Nagar in Jorhat.

The doctor was allegedly killed with a knife. His throat had a deep slit. He was found lying in a pool of blood on the floor of his rented house.

Basumatary hailed from Udalguri and was an intern doctor at J K Memorial Homeopathic Medical college in Jorhat.

He had completed his Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery degree in 2019 from JK Memorial Homeopathic Medical College.

“Rahul Basumatary and Diganta Tanti were in a same sex relationship and on Saturday they have some argument between them after which Diganta Tanti allegedly killed Rahul with a knife,” said a police source.

While the correspondent of NewsMove tried to contact the SP of Jorhat Mrinal Talukdar and Additional SP Prakash Sonowal they didn’t respond to his call.
