In the heart of Assam’s COVID contamination, Guwahati city, at least 26 persons were arrested and 112 vehicles were detained till Monday evening, on the first day of promulgating lockdown for the second time to check “community transmission”.
After the city recorded over a thousand cases in a matter of two weeks with at least 60 per cent of those without travel history, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the “strictest ever” lockdown in which, even essential commodity shops barring pharmacies, are also shut.
“Among the detained vehicles, 61 were two-wheelers, 17 were three-wheelers, 32 were four-wheelers and two were six-wheelers,” a media intimidation from Assam Police mentioned.
Four cases had also been registered. Fine worth Rs 3,000 have also been realised from those not wearing masks.
