Morigaon College Gets Frank On Oral History Of Northeast India

The Department of History of Morigaon College, Assam, had organised a one-day national webinar on the 14th of July, 2021, on the topic, “Oral History: Prospects and Perspectives in Northeast India”. The Webinar was organised by the Department in collaboration with the Alumni association of the same. The Resource Person for the event was Dr. Biman Hazarika, Principal, Dhing College, Assam who discussed vividly on the theme. He started his lecture with a theoretical note and then talked about the various aspects of preserving local history using Oral History as an approach, the problems associated with it, and also threw light upon the unexplored potentials of various states such as Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland among others.

Dr. Hazarika quite succinctly amalgamated his area of research on the Sattra institutions of Assam as an addendum to the discussion.

The Webinar also saw an active participation of the Principal of the College, Dr. Lila Kanta Barthakur, along with Professor Jogen Kalita, the Governing Body President and also the HoD of Zoology Department, Gauhati University.

The Coordinator for the event was Deepak Kalita, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Morigaon College and the webinar was moderated by Suman Das, Assistant Professor Department of History, Morigaon College.

Shared via various social media platforms, the webinar saw immense participation of students, research scholars, college and university Professors and academicians from across the country who were present during the session making the event a successful one.
