Assam police on Wednesday raided former DIG PK Dutta’s residence and his two hotels at the state capital Guwahati in connection with the paper leakage of Assam police (SI) exam on Sunday.
Three person’s, including prime accused Sanjib Sarma, have been arrested and six others have been detained by the Crime Investigation Department so far for leaking the question papers of the sub-inspector(SI) recruitment exams that was cancelled minutes after holding the exams last Sunday.
Sources in the police said they had received leads connecting the retired DIG PK DUTTA to the recent paper leakage.
“Raids at his rupnagar residence (in Guwahati) and his two hotels bhargav grand near Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) and another by the same name near Lokhra in this connection,” the source said.
Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal haddirected Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to identify the nexus that had dealt with the leaking of question papers following which, the CID police station had registered cases under various sections of Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act, 2000.
CM Sonowal directed the Chairman of the ‘State Level Police Recruitment Board’ (SLPRB), Pradeep Kumar to conduct re-examination for the posts of Sub-Inspector in the Assam police within a month.
