-Sushmita Deb

Parishmita Kalita, daughter of Archana Talukdar, is a resident of Bhetapara, Guwahati-28. Archana Talukdar is the Technical Assistant of Puppetry Wing, Directorate of Cultural Affairs.

They had initiated a puppetry show of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and posted it from Parishmita’s Twitter handle; further got noticed by the PM, to which he had responded, taking Twitter by awe, when the same got took up by hundreds of other users.

Parishmita has completed her Post Graduation in Sociology in 2018 from Tezpur University and presently, teaching sociology in SAI RNS Academy, H.S section, and also a guest faculty at B.Ed College (CRC, Composite Regional Center, under GMC).

In a telephonic conversation with NewsMove, this morning; she had shared the experience and story related to the topic.

Parishmita says, “The idea behind this was to thank PM Modi, as we all are well aware, that our Hon’ble PM is leading the battle against corona like a strong warrior and is trying all possible means to ensure the safety of the Nation. Therefore, my mother and I thought of using puppetry, which is an otherwise dying art form and dedicated it to him, we further also thought that it might act as a means of alternative entertainment, we tried to send the same message to people for yet another time.

She added, “The message that we tried to convey is to urge people to follow the instructions of our Hon’ble PM so that we can win this battle against COVID-19 at the earliest. It will only be possible by the participation of every citizen, as the PM himself thanks all of us who have acted as ‘responsible citizens“.

It was a wonderful feeling, tough to pen down. It was once in a lifetime moment. It was unexpected as it was my first ever tweet on twitter. My mother’s feelings were exactly the same. Getting recognition and appreciation from him is like a dream come true, mentions she.
