There is no comparison between Delhi and Assam’s schools: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma coming heavily on Kejriwal said that there is no comparison between Assam schools and Delhi schools.

Talking to media persons in Guwahati on Friday, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “There is no comparison between Delhi schools and Assam schools because Delhi is a Municipality which runs only 1200 schools and Assam is a state which runs more than 50,000 schools and we have around 1 crore students,”.

He said, “If Assam would have had only 1200 schools, then we could have managed to give each student a computer, iPad and Smart class, etc. Why a person running only 1200 schools is comparing with us,”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday took a dig at the BJP-led Assam government over its decision to merge schools that had recorded zero pass percentage in class 10th examinations this year with other schools.

“Closing schools is not the solution. We just need to open many new schools all over the country. Instead of closing the school, improve the school and make education right,” he tweeted.

Moreover, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has advised Assam’s BJP-led government to adopt the Delhi education model for improving the state’s education system. The party said the Delhi model could help improve Assam’s education system.

The suggestion followed the Assam government’s decision to shut 34 state-run schools for non-performance. The AAP said the Delhi model could help improve Assam’s education system.
